I like cruises…

So I just got back from the K-Love cruise and it was a blast.  We shot four comedy DVD’s that will be in stores this summer, ate lots of food and took a lot of unnecessary naps.

The pic above us Leland Klassen, Nicole C. Mullen and myself.  She is an incredibly talented singer and for some reason, she always carries her laptop around.  But she was nice enough to put it aside and get a picture with us.  Thanks Nicole.

have a great week everyone!

Reply to Kathy Griffin

Hey everyone,

Now, I normally don’t like to get involved with any controversy because it’s just not my style but I wanted to comment on Kathy Griffin’s response when she won an Emmy a couple of weeks ago.  At the end of her acceptance speech, she said, “Suck it Jesus.”

So I thought to do a little video as an explanation of why we Christians got a little upset.  Check out the video below.

Into the fall we go…

Well it’s September 4th and we’re officially in the fall season.  I love the fall in Colorado because for a couple of months, it’s about 70 degrees every day.  Then the snow hits in November and I have to shovel it from my driveway.  Apparently ice is not good to walk on.  Well, it’s good for the insurance companies.

Also, I wanted to let everyone know that my book, A Stand-Up Comic Sits Down with Jesus.  A Devotional?, is officially in bookstores today.  So I encourage you to pick up a copy and start laughing your way to a better relationship with God.  It also makes a great gift idea for someone.

Anyway, have a great Tuesday and short week.

I’m on board with Nashville Speakers Bureau

After many hours of prayer, talking with wife and going over and over it in my head, I’ve taken the plunge and signed with Nashville Speakers Bureau.  They handle all the top talent in the entertainment industry and I’m privileged to be a a part of the team.

So, if you’d like to schedule an event with me, you can contact Tim Grable at tim@nashspeakers.com or call 615-263-4143.  Or you can just go to www.richpraytor.com and fill out the online form and I’ll take care of the rest.

So anyway, I’m off to Tampa, FL tomorrow to perform for a small group’s appreciate banquet.  I love doing those kind of events because everyone is laid bad and ready to laugh.  Also, I’m excited about sleeping in a hotel room, by myself, without the kids in the next room screaming for some water.  But when I get back I always tell my wife how horrible it was to sleep in a quiet, comfortable, clean (not really) bed without any interruption from the kids.

 Have a great weekend everyone,

 Rich

Camping

Our family just got back from camping in the mountains of Colorado.  OK, let me clarify, we stayed at a campground that rented cabins with full kitchens, a living room, running hotwater and a coffee maker.  My wife thinks we were ‘roughing’ it.  Especially since we didn’t have cell phone reception.

We went fishing, hiking, toasted smores by the fire and my daughter learned that belly flopping into a mud puddle is not the best idea in the world.  It looks deep but there’s only a couple inches of water.

I did a lot of fishing with my buddy Larry who is basically a pro fly fisherman.  He can catch a humpback whale with is fly rod.  Me, on the other hand, caught some bushes that were behind me with my fly rod.  I lost more flies than I care to remember.  Actually, I lost count so I can’t remember.

But we didn’t catch anything that week.  Apparently, all the fish were in the middle of the lake at the bottom because the lake had dropped about 6 feet in the last month.  We were fishing off shore so we didn’t stand a chance of landing anything.

Just as the lake dropped, sometimes our lives come across trouble.  When that happens, get to the deepest and safest part of your life as you go through that time.  Your family, friends and most importantly, our Lord.

Don’t worry, I’m not posting up any icons of mine or going to trash anyone.  I wanted to everyone to know this is Don Johnson from the famous original Miami Vice TV show and actor of numerous movies.

The reason I posted his photo is because my wife didn’t know who he was when our daughter pushed his son down in the Salt Lake City Airport playground.  I didn’t know it was Don until I helped up his little boy and apologized to him.  He laughed and said, “Aw, they’re just being kids.”

For a second I thought, “Well, that’s what you get for trying to have a singing career.”  But I kept my mouth shut and just thought it like any good Christian would do.

Then his wife was sweet and played with my daughter Alyssa and her son until they left to catch their flight.  I never mentioned anything that I recognized him or made some silly joke (I did later though to my wife).

I realized though that not everyone is so different as we make them out to be.   Even famous people have to wait around at the airport with their kids.  They still deal with problems like most of us do.

But what I figured out most of all, was that everyone on this earth will have to stand before our Lord in heaven and give an account for their life.  Rich, famous, poor, you name it.

So next time you get starstruck from someone walking down the street, say a prayer for them…and push down their kids.

My first feature film

I’m currently working on my first feature film.  The script is done and now we’re looking for the most important part…the money.  We have some interest from some investors but it takes time to finally get things going.

I’ve learned so much in the last six months about films.  I learned that although actors get a lot of the glory if a film does well, it’s the executive producer who really has the power.  They’re the ones that put everything together…including the actors.

I also learned that Hollywood needs and is looking for content.  Less that 10% of all films are made in Hollywood.  Most are produced outside and then sold to one of the huge studios.

But the most important thing I’ve learned is that Hollywood needs Christian based films.  They’re realizing that the films put out now that glamorize violence, sex and other poopy stuffy.  Films and music direct our culture’s thinking so now is the time to put out Christian based films that will change the thinking positively of our culture.

Have a great day,

Rich
